We are searching for an experienced, visionary marketing leader to serve as the Director of AWS's Worldwide Startup Marketing. In this role, you will define and lead the global marketing strategy for one of AWS's most dynamic and high-growth customer segments: startups. From pre-seed companies to late-stage unicorns, startups represent some of the most innovative builders on AWS, and this role is responsible for ensuring they discover, adopt, and grow with AWS at every stage of their journey. As the Director of Startup Marketing, you will build and lead a team of marketing professionals responsible for driving awareness, engagement, and adoption of AWS across the global startup ecosystem. You will develop integrated marketing programs that resonate with founders, technical decision-makers, and the broader entrepreneurial community-spanning digital experiences, events, content, and community-building initiatives. In this role, you will work closely with sales leadership, field marketing, business development, product marketing, and partner teams to design and execute marketing strategies that generate quality pipeline, deepen customer relationships, and accelerate startup growth on AWS. You will also serve as a key voice for the startup segment internally, influencing how AWS invests in and shows up for the startup community worldwide. Key job responsibilities • \tDefine and lead a global startup marketing strategy aligned with AWS's sales, business development, and product goals, with a focus on driving awareness, adoption, and revenue growth across the startup lifecycle • \tBuild, lead, and develop a high-performing team of marketing managers responsible for demand generation, integrated campaigns, digital marketing, events, and community programs • \tDevelop compelling messaging and content strategies that resonate with founders, technical leaders, and early-stage decision-makers across diverse startup ecosystems globally • \tLead the design and execution of scalable, repeatable global marketing programs with targeted reach across startup segments-from pre-seed to growth-stage companies • \tDrive demand generation through integrated campaigns, account-based marketing, digital programs, and tailored startup-focused events that deliver measurable pipeline and revenue outcomes • \tOversee the strategy and evolution of AWS startup community programs and physical/virtual experiences that connect developers and entrepreneurs with AWS expertise and resources • \tIdentify and cultivate strategic partnerships with venture capital firms, accelerators, incubators, and technology partners to expand AWS's reach and credibility in the startup ecosystem • \tWork closely with sales leadership and sales operations to define, track, and optimize joint goals around funnel metrics, pipeline revenue, and customer conversion • \tLead market analysis and voice-of-customer programs to identify growth opportunities, inform go-to-market strategy, and continuously improve program effectiveness • \tContinually experiment with new marketing approaches and channels to engage startup customers in innovative, authentic ways • \tTrack, measure, and report on the performance of marketing programs to sales and marketing leadership, using data to drive iterative optimization • \tManage marketing budget, including allocation, forecasting, and reconciliation BASIC QUALIFICATIONS • \t15+ years of relevant B2B technology marketing experience, with demonstrated success marketing to startup or developer audiences • \t5+ years of experience working within or marketing to the startup community, with a strong understanding of the venture capital, entrepreneurial, and developer ecosystems • \tProven track record of building and leading high-performing marketing teams that deliver scalable, metrics-driven programs • \tExperience designing and executing integrated demand generation programs across digital, events, and content channels • \tStrong technical acumen and understanding of cloud computing, open source, containers, serverless, machine learning, or adjacent technologies • \tDemonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with sales, business development, product, and partner teams to drive pipeline and revenue outcomes • \tProven success managing complex, multi-faceted global marketing programs from strategy through execution • \tSuperior written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for diverse audiences • \tStrong analytical skills and business acumen, with experience using data to optimize marketing performance • \tWillingness to travel PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS • \tMBA or advanced degree preferred • \tExperience building or scaling startup community programs, accelerator partnerships, or developer marketing initiatives • \tFamiliarity with emerging disruptive technologies and their relevance to startup builders (e.g., generative AI, cloud-native infrastructure, open source) • \tExperience in a global marketing organization, working across worldwide and regional teams • \tOutstanding organizational skills and attention to detail • \tPassion for the startup ecosystem and entrepreneurship Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
